Larry Durocher
1940 – 2024
Lawrence Arthur Durocher, fondly known as Larry or Bucky, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at Bluewater Health in Sarnia. Born on May 11, 1940, in Windsor, Ontario, Larry was the beloved husband of Pauline (nee Pouget) for 64 wonderful years.
Larry was a devoted father to Cathy (Tom Stuart), Richard (Mauryah Durocher), Tilly (Terry Lucier), and the late Vincent Durocher. He was a proud Pepe to Cameron (Brandon), Danielle (Darcy), Lucas (Kirsten), Nathan, Riley (Drew), Candace (Brayden), Chris (Michelle), Chadd, Kyle, and Morgan (Bryce), and a loving Great-Pepe to 14 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Larry was the son of the late Arthur and Marie (Campeau) Durocher. He is survived by his siblings Barbara Russell, Suzanne Pickle, Patricia Durocher, and was predeceased by his brother Joseph Durocher. He will be remembered fondly by his brother-in-law Richard Pouget, and predeceased by Elizabeth Durocher, Clarence Pouget, and Violet Lanoue. Larry was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and longtime friends Andy and Sherri Melvin.
Known as a hardworking family man, Larry held several careers, from grocery store work to paint sales, lumber stores, and 10 years as a school custodian. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping—starting with tenting in his early years and enjoying 20 winters in Fort Myers and 20 years at Port Glasgow Trailer Park with his cherished golf cart.
Larry was best known for his humor and storytelling, always sharing jokes that brought smiles to everyone he met. He will be remembered for his warm laughter and kind heart.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring, around the time of his birthday. Donations in Larry’s memory may be made to the Rodney Food Bank or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
