Colin Fabian

1953 – April 30, 2025

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Colin Fabian, at Pembroke Regional Hospital, at the age of 72, on April 30, 2025. After a short battle with cancer, Colin passed away peacefully with the warmth and love of family by his side.

Colin was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cindy (McKay) Fabian, with whom he shared almost 50 years of love and partnership. He was a dedicated and loving father and grandfather to Amanda Fabian (Paige and Katelin Bellamy) and Eric Fabian (Hillary and Kyla Fabian and Benjamin Power).

Colin is predeceased by his parents, Roy & Mary Fabian (Crook), and his brothers Glen and Gordon Fabian. He was the brother of Marlyn Carr, Sandra (John) Drohan, Brenda Fabian, and Terry Fabian. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Though he is no longer with us, Colin’s legacy of love, family, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved so dearly. A man of quiet strength and a great love of the outdoors, Colin touched the lives of all who knew him. His gentle humour, wisdom, and unwavering support will be remembered always.

Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Ralph Quast

April 1, 2025 – April 3, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Quast on April 1, 2025, in his 91st year. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Lillian Burnette. He leaves behind his daughter Linda (Bryan) Fraser, son Doug (Ruth), and daughter Valerie (Neil) Renkema. He was a loving grandfather to Chris and Tim Fraser, Brenda and Dan Quast, Erin Leggo, and Dylan Renkema. Also survived by four great-grandchildren. Ralph was predeceased by siblings Lila (Elmer), Leonard (Rose), Mabel (Florian), and Marian.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed woodworking. He spent much of his leisure time at the cottage at Golden Lake.

Family and friends may pay their respects at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The funeral will take place in the chapel on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Rosebank Cemetery will follow in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph’s memory to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or St. James Lutheran Church of Renfrew would be appreciated.

Faith McCallum (Gillan)

August 1, 1941 – March 16, 2025

After a courageous battle with cancer, Faith passed away peacefully at Groves Park Lodge in the early morning of Sunday, March 16, 2025, in her 84th year.

Beloved wife of the late Glen McCallum. Faith was the loving mother of Wendy (Dave McLennan), Kelly (Bill Juby), and Tammie (Peter Timm). Loved by her grandchildren Tara-Lee, Mandy, Mitchel, Justine, Shelby, Chevelle and her great-grandchildren Ryan, Abby, Danica, Alyssa, Arlen, Wynter, Nash, Sloan, and Rex. She is survived by her sisters Beverley (Fred Pultz) and Brenda (David Code), sister-in-law Jean Gillan (Dale’s wife), and her brother-in-law Leo (Anna) McCallum. Predeceased by her parents Clarence and Clara (Morrison) Gillan, brother Dale Gillan, brothers-in-law DJ (Grace) McCallum, Mack (Jenny) McCallum, Delmer McCallum, and sister-in-law Noreen (Steve McGregor).

Faith adored animals and will miss her grand fur babies Bailey, Iggy, Archie, and Humbug. A special thank you to the staff and nurses at Caressant Care, Renfrew Victoria Hospital, Hospice Renfrew, and Groves Park Lodge for their care of mom over the years.

Faith’s final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Renfrew Presbyterian Church. Danial Thompson

March 16, 2025 - March 19, 2025

Saddened to announce Danny passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 16th, he lived his life to the fullest right until the end. He will be missed by his family Hilda Reid (spouse), His daughter Tina, and his son Eric (Sarah). He also leaves to mourn his grandkids Jaxon, Jade and Ava. Danny enjoyed the outdoors, and people. He would give you the shirt off his back and is still regarded as one of the best grader operators around.

A celebration of life will be held in Peterborough May 17th, 2025 (location to be announced) followed by another celebration at Whitefish Lake July 12th weekend, when he will go to rest at his favorite place on earth. Offroad 4x4 vehicles required and transportation can be provided in from airport. He will be greatly missed by all.

Arvilla Brisco

February 7, 1941 - February 28, 2025

Born in Renfrew, Ontario, on February 7, 1941, to the late William Thompson and Rebecca (Gagie) Thompson (nee MacDonald),
Arvilla went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2025, after battling many years with dementia.

Arvilla lived in Stoney Creek, Ontario, from 1985 to 2022, where she was a devoted wife, mother, and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Wife of the late Gordon Russell Brisco, she was born and raised in the Valley.

Beloved mother of Andrew Brisco, Gregory Brisco, and Tim Smith.
Grandmother to Kalynn Brisco and Grayson Brisco, and great-grandmother to Weston Kaufman.
She is survived by her brother Eldon (Ruth) Thompson, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arvilla is predeceased by her sisters Marie Hoad (nee Thompson) and Geraldine Wall (nee Thompson),
and by her brothers C.J. Thompson and Albert Thompson.

Arvilla lived a life dedicated to serving her Savior and her community. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was known for her fun, mischievous nature and ever-present sense of humor.
Her life was filled with travel in her early years, hosting family gatherings, and making long-lasting friendships
through her marketing career, church family, and years as a caretaker.
She leaves behind a legacy of service and kindness.

The family wishes to thank the members of Groves Park Lodge and the many friends and family who supported Arvilla and her family in recent years.

where visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Deborah (Debbie) Smith

1953 - February 28, 2025

Debbie was born in Espanola, Ontario, in 1953 to Esther (Lachance) and Joseph Gauthier.

Debbie is survived by and deeply missed by the love of her life – her son Kevin, her daughter-in-law Alice, and her beloved grandchildren Milla and Dean.
She is predeceased by her husband Warren and will be missed by his sons Paul and David, as well as David’s wife Vicky and daughter Abby.

Debbie was the cherished sister of Sharon, her twin brother Dennis, Patrick, Monica, Veronica, Louann, Brenda, and Sherry.
She was a fun sister-in-law to Terry, Linda, Estelle, Dan, Mark, Henry, and Jeremy.
A proud aunt to many nieces and nephews, she will always be remembered for her joyful hugs and smile.

Debbie spent her younger years in Northern Ontario and later lived in Milton, Ontario, where she enjoyed her work and close colleagues.
She will always be remembered for her accepting nature and the love felt in her presence. She was easy to talk to, had a memorable laugh, and will be forever imagined laughing, joking, and dancing.

Sandra Watts-Ducharme

September 15, 1961 – December 9, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Lynn "Sandy" Watts-Ducharme on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. Sandy passed peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 63.

Sandra was the loving wife of Gary Ducharme for 34 years and the devoted mother to Kyle and Jenna (Kevan) and grandmother to their son William. She is survived by her brothers Clayton (Marilyn) and Wayne (Ginette), as well as her sister-in-law Leann (Ross). Sandy cherished her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Gertrude (Hooper) Watts, and her brother-in-law Gerald "Gerry."

Sandy was a woman of extraordinary grace, kindness, and generosity. She was the heart of her family, known for her culinary talents that turned every meal into a celebration and gatherings into unforgettable memories. Her ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued will be dearly missed.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home in Eganville. A service will be scheduled at a later date. Reverend J. Kenneth O’Brien

1948 - December 3, 2024

Peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, fortified by the Sacraments of the Church, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Son of the late Clifford and Loretta O’Brien, and survived by his siblings Marie Swant (Vernon), Matt (the late Marlene), and Gerard (Colleen), as well as his beloved nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his brother John.

Father O’Brien studied at Resurrection College in Kitchener and St. Peter’s Seminary in London, Ontario. Ordained to the Priesthood in St. James the Less Church, Eganville, on May 11, 1974, he served in various parishes and ministries, including Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Pembroke, and St. Columbkille Cathedral. He was also Chaplain to Catholic High in Pembroke and served the Catholic Women’s League, the Knights of Columbus, and Marianhill in Pembroke for over 30 years.

Following retirement in November 2023, Father O’Brien continued his pastoral care for the Sisters of St. Joseph and residents at Supple’s Landing in Pembroke. His dedication to faith and service touched countless lives throughout his ministry.

Professional arrangements entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Reception of the Body will be at St. James the Less Church, Eganville, on Sunday, December 8th, at 2:00 p.m., followed by public visitation until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 9th, at 12:00 noon, with the Most Reverend Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R., Bishop of Pembroke, presiding. Private interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Esmonde.

Gerald "Happy" Robertson

April 17, 1932 - November 30, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerald "Happy" Robertson at the age of 92, surrounded by family at Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew, Ontario. Happy was the beloved husband and best friend of Betty (Trudel) for 71 years.

Cherished father of Norma Robertson and Laurie Ouellet (Joe). Loving grandfather of Kevin Ouellet, Kelsey De Angelis (Gino), and Sydney Lefebvre (Will). Proud great-grandfather to Marco De Angelis, Camila De Angelis, Emma Lefebvre, and Logan Lefebvre.

Happy is survived by his brother Terry (Pete) Robertson (Ada) and is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Clarence (Ellen), Grant (Terry), and Larry (Carol).

Retiring from Algoma Ore Division in Wawa at 55 years old, Happy later worked at Citadel for one year before retiring fully. He and Betty cherished their winters in Bruce Mines and summers at their cottage on Whitefish Lake. In 2020, they relocated to Renfrew to be closer to family as Happy’s health began to decline.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bonnechere Manor for their compassionate care during this difficult time.

Raymond Leon Joseph Lafleur

March 4, 1944 - November 26, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond Leon Joseph Lafleur announces his peaceful passing on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the age of 80. Raymond passed away at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Cobden, Ontario, surrounded by love.

Beloved husband of Sandra (née Hodder) for 59 wonderful years, Raymond was the devoted father of Ray (Laurie), Rick, Moe (Kim), and Angelique (Joe). He was the cherished “Poppa” to T.J., Shawn, Brittany, Courtney, Judy, Danielle, Denny, Ryan, Emily, and Alex, and the proud great-grandfather of Claire.

Raymond was a dear brother to Colette (Gilles), Rene (Dianne), and Lise (Larry) and is lovingly remembered by his in-laws Judy (Ed’s wife), Nellie (Allen), Gail (late Dave), and Chris (Debbie). He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Carmen (Miron) Lafleur, his brother Jack (Yvonne), and his brother-in-law Ed.

A veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Raymond was a man of many talents, including music, mechanics, and leadership. He was a fixer of all things and found great joy in sharing his talents with those around him. His greatest loves were his family, music, and his faith in God.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home for their compassionate care and to Veterans Affairs for their support. Special thanks to the Eganville Legion Branch 353 and the Ladies Auxiliary for their kindness and dedication.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James the Less Catholic Church in Eganville on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
