Passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on April 27, 2025, at the age of 78. Jim will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Margret (née Saggau), his daughters Jennifer and Alyson, son-in-law Franz Kloibhofer, and his cherished granddaughters Ava and Katie. He was also a devoted son to Norman and Dorothy Sweetlove, who predeceased him in 2004.
Jim was called to the Bar in 1972 and began practicing law in Hamilton. He joined Ross & McBride in 1985 and practiced as a Wills, Estates, and Trusts expert until his retirement in 2015. He earned his LL.M in Dispute Resolution in 2004 and was sought after as an estate mediator. He also taught with the Ontario Bar Admissions Program and the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario.
His impact in the community was profound. Jim served many organizations, including the Halton Conservation Foundation, Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation, Halton Women’s Place, Burlington Library Board, and Burlington Performing Arts Centre. He was a founding member of the Burlington Community Foundation and recipient of the Aldershot Community Honour Roll and Ontario 150 Award in 2017.
Jim was a long-time member and Past President of the Burlington Curling Club and Past Master of the Wellington Square Masonic Lodge. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, serving as Church Warden and recipient of the Order of Niagara in 2008.
He loved music, sports, and travel—having visited 89 countries and aiming to reach the Century Club. He was an avid reader and a deeply generous spirit whose legacy lives on through those he touched.
Visitation will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 3–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Matthew on-the-Plains Anglican Church, 126 Plains Rd. E., Burlington, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Heather Ann Small at Joseph Brant Hospital, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in her 79th year.
Born in Grimsby, Ontario to the late Guy and Violet Winter. Loved mother of Jamie (Cindy) and Chris (Tracy). Cherished grandmother of Steven (Autumn), Cody (Jeena), Justin (Emma), Megan, Lucas, Cole and Jack. Very proud great-grandmother to Jackson and Nova. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Heather and her family were blessed to have lived together and as neighbors in Millgrove for the past year and a half—sharing daily visits, meals, and memories. Her door was always open, and her heart always listening. She will be deeply missed.
Beloved sister of Eleanor Borsa (Michael) and Vivianne Bourne (Mike). Special aunt to Midge (Art) and great-aunt to Kenny, Alex, and Madi.
An avid sports fan, Heather enjoyed hockey, golf, and especially NASCAR. After retiring from a long career in management at the LCBO, she played an integral role in her son’s Oakville-based business before fully retiring.
The family extends sincere gratitude to the incredible staff on the 7th floor of Joseph Brant Hospital for their compassion and care.

Passed away at McNally House Hospice on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Elsa (née Telford) for over 62 years. Loving father of Jeff Dancer (Mary) and Leslie Dancer (Tracy). Cherished grandfather of Matthew (Sara), Jordan (Brooke), and Maddie (Josh), and proud great-grandfather of Jaxon.
Predeceased by several siblings. Brother-in-law to Linda Buchanan (Bill). Bill will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Bill retired from the Roads Department with the Town of Grimsby in 1998 after 25 years of dedicated service and also served proudly with the Grimsby Fire Department from 1967–1998. After retirement, Bill and Elsa moved to Muskoka where they enjoyed 15 peaceful and happy years before returning to Grimsby.
Cremation has taken place, with burial at Queen’s Lawn Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Shirley on May 1, 2025, at the age of 102. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Robert (Bob), and her brother, Charles (Chuck). Shirley was a devoted mother to Nancy (Don), Bob (Wendy), and Gordon (Rube). A cherished grandmother to Heidi, Bobby, Jackie, Nick, and Jodie, and a loving great-grandmother to Elle, Luke, Tate, Emilyn, Bobby, and Cayson.
Shirley lived a long, happy, and fulfilling life. She was deeply committed to her family, friends, and community. Her church involvement and charitable work, particularly with the Big Sisters Association, brought her immense joy and purpose. She was truly an extraordinary woman.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at La Salle Park Retirement Community for their compassionate care, especially Amy, Jonathon, Kristy, Maria, Susie, and Lagring.

Mary passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the age of 88. She was the beloved mother of Kari Wadge and predeceased by her beloved husband, Warren, and her dear daughter, Lisa. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: George, Tony, Joe, John, Steve, Susan, and Anne.
Mary was a talented painter and gardener, known for her devotion to her family. Despite the challenges of dementia, her spirit and love for her family will be forever cherished. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, and all who knew her.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Angela Maria Petruccelli on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in her 77th year.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Giovanni, with whom she shared 57 years of love, laughter, and unwavering companionship.
Angela was a dedicated mother to Angelo (Tara), Marino (Christina), and Teresa (Robert Di Ianni) and a cherished Nonna to
Christian, Isabella, Angelica, and Luca, as well as a loving step-Nonna to Tori and Monica.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she showered them with endless love, wisdom, and the warmth of her kitchen.
Predeceased by her beloved parents, Giovanni and Rosa (Minotti) Marino, and her in-laws, Angelo and Teresa Petruccelli,
she was a treasured sister and sister-in-law to Vincenzo (Elena) Marino, Amalia (Vincenzo) Macchiagodena,
Tony (Annette), the late Domenic, Emily (Louie) Buordolone, and Pat (Dana).
Angela will also be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends,
especially her cousin Maria Alfieri, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.
In 1968, Angela courageously left her hometown in Italy to build a new life in Canada with Giovanni.
She was the foundation of her family—strong, selfless, and endlessly giving.
An incredible cook, her home was always filled with the comforting aromas of homemade meals shared with joy.
A talented seamstress, she poured patience and skill into every stitch, creating beautiful garments and lasting memories.
Above all, Angela’s greatest passion was her family. She loved deeply, gave wholeheartedly, and left an indelible mark
on the hearts of all who knew her. Her kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
